David Ferrer upset top-seeded Rafael Nadal, 6-3, 7-5, on Saturday to advance to the final of the Paris Masters. Ferrer will face Novak Djokovic, who won his 16th straight match by rallying past Roger Federer, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
■ Djokovic and Federer have been placed in the same group for next week's ATP finals in London. Djokovic is the defending champion; Federer was last year's runner-up. They will be in Group B with Juan MartÃn del Potro and Richard Gasquet. Top-ranked Nadal was placed in Group A with Ferrer, Tomas Berdych and Stanislas Wawrinka.
■ Simona Halep and Samantha Stosur will meet in a WTA final for the second time in three weeks at the season-ending Tournament of Champions in Sofia, Bulgaria. The top-seeded Halep rallied from a set behind to beat Ana Ivanovic, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, and the fourth-seeded Stosur outlasted Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3, in the semifinals.
■ Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani of Italy prevailed in the opening Fed Cup singles for a 2-0 lead against a decimated Russian team in Cagliari, Italy. Vinci rallied from a 5-2 deficit in the second set against Alexandra Panova and saved four match points to win, 5-7, 7-5, 8-6, in 3 hours 13 minutes. Errani beat Irina Khromacheva, 6-1, 6-4.
■ The International Tennis Federation banned Tunisia from the 2014 Davis Cup after one of its players was ordered not to compete against an Israeli opponent at a second-tier tournament last month.
