■ The United States women's team scored four goals in four minutes in the first period and cruised to a 10-0 victory over Sweden in the Four Nations Cup women's hockey tournament in Lake Placid, N.Y.
■ Center Jason Arnott, who played on the Devils' 2000 Stanley Cup championship team, announced his retirement after 18 N.H.L. seasons. Arnott was the No. 7 overall pick by the Oilers in 1993 and scored the first 239 points of his career with Edmonton. He also played for the Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues. He had not played since the end of the 2011-12 season.
