Lithuania advanced to the second round of the European basketball championships despite losing, 78-72, to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Needing to win by 10 to squeeze out Lithuania, Bosnia-Herzegovina led by 72-58 after Mirza Teletovic knocked down a 3-pointer with five minutes left. Teletovic finished with 31 points, but Lithuania cut the deficit and advanced.
Italy, the only 5-0 team in the first round, also advanced, along with Croatia, Belgium, Ukraine, Latvia, Spain, Finland, Greece, France, Serbia and Slovenia, the host. Among those eliminated were the world silver medalist, Turkey, and the Olympic bronze medalist, Russia.
