The Times's soccer blog has the world's game covered from all angles.

A Greek professional football player received a five-match ban for giving a Nazi-style salute last month while celebrating a goal for AEK Athens. The player, Giorgos Katidis, insisted that he was unaware the straight-hand salute was associated with Nazi Germany.

¶ Gareth Bale of Tottenham should be back in training within two weeks after spraining ligaments in his right ankle in a Europa League quarterfinal on Thursday.

¶ Paris St.-Germain Coach Carlo Ancelotti said David Beckham would "definitely start" against Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal and insisted that criticism of Beckham, the former England midfielder, after the first game was "unjust." Beckham was given harsh reviews by some in the French news media.
