Four teams entered, two teams left… but what an exit it was.
Two action-packed matches in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday resulted in thrilling finishes that saw Borussia Dortmund of German and Real Madrid of Spain advance to the semifinals of the continental club championship.
In Dortmund, Málaga appeared to be headed to the last four after Eliseu scored (an offside?) goal in the 74th minute. But Dortmund refused to lose. In one of the most frenetic finishes you will ever see, Marco Reus scored one minute into second half added time and then defender Felipe Santana scored (an offside?) goal in the final minute of the match as the two-time defending champion in the Bundesliga snatched the victory and ended Málaga's magic run.
In Istanbul, Real Madrid skated into town with a gaudy 3-0 lead from last week's first leg and looked to be coasting to the semifinals when Cristiano Ronaldo scored in the game's first 10 minutes. But Galatasaray scored three unanswered goals, all by the club's veteran players — Emmanuel Eboué, Westley Sneijder and Didier Drogba — to give the Turkish club a bit of hope and and more than a bit of honor. Ronaldo added his second goal of the game as time expired but Gala came away with a 3-2 win, but lost the series on aggregate, 5-3.

Fantastic Finishes Dortmund and Madrid Advance
Borussia Dortmund scores twice in a frantic finish to advance while in Turkey Real Madrid gets two goals from Ronaldo to also move on to the semifinals of the Champions League. What a day of matches.
Ronaldo adds a second in the game. Madrid loses the match, 3-2, but wins the series, 5-3.
Full Time Dortmund Escapes
The final whistle goes and Borussia Dortmund incredibly, improbably advanes to the semifinals of the Champions League.
90+ 2 GOAL Dortmund Takes the Lead
Just incredible. From a throw in, Reus ends up with the ball to the left of Caballero, off a scramble Santana taps in the go-ahead goal for Dortmund. Another offside goal? Dortmund takes the lead in the match and in the series.
Scramble in front and Reus scores the match equalizer.
90+ Added Time in Dortumnd
Four minutes of added time.
82' GOAL Malaga Leads 2-1
Wow … Malaga races in front 2-1 and two away goals. Isco leads Baptista into the penalty area and he slides the ball to his right to an unmarked Eliseu. But was he offside? Did the linesman miss the call? And the dude didn't even need to touch the ball because Baptista's shot was headed into the goal.
Benzema replaces Higuain.
Gotze breaks in and sees his shot kicked wide by Caballero.
73' and 74' GOALS … Gala Scores Two
Sneijder and then a minute later Drogba score for Gala, making the score in the match 3-1 and 4-3 on aggregate (with Madrid holding an edge with an away goal).
Schieber for Błaszczykowski and Şahin also enters; for Malaga Duda gives way for Eliseu
Duda near end line sends a back pass that finds Toulalan along at to of the arch. Shot is punched clear by Weidenfeller. Another goal by Malaga would have been crushing for Dortmund.
Błaszczykowski header ruled offside. Clearly correct call.
Away goal still holding up for Spanish visitors as Dortmund presses for go-ahead goal at home.
60th Sneijder Comes Close
Gala nearly grabs another goal as Sneijder left alone on the left side but his shot slithers wide of the far post. Gala still need four more. Not likely.
58' GOAL Galatasaray Get One Back1-1
The former France and Arsenal defender Eboue smacks a crossing ball first time with the outside of his right foot to give the Turkish club a goal, in consolation, and a tie in the match.
48' Gotze Shot Wide and High
Santana drops a ball over the Malaga defense and Gotze hits it first-times it drops over his shoulder. A bit off-balance and way off target.
No changes for either team for second half.
Substitution during the break. Amrabat on, Altintop off
From a late free kick by Duda, Joaquin slips his mark and puts a header on goal but directly at Weidenfeller. Halftime whistle ends matters … for now.
A brilliant, lightning attack by Dortumnd ties the match. Gotze controls on the right and sends a laser pass into the center of the field. A quick backheel flick by Reus sends Lewandowski in on Caballero for the goal. Match is tied, but Malaga maintains the edge on the away goal.
Madrid's Essien tweaks a hamstring and is replaced by Arbeloa.
Killing Time Madrid Coasting
Looks like83 minutes of killing time for Real Madrid in Istanbul after Ronaldo's goal in the 7th minute. Ho-hum.
Huge, huge away goal by Joaquin for Malaga. Batista slides the ball to the striker on the right side at the top of the penalty area. He cuts around a defender and hits a left-footed shot along the ground that rolls past Weidenfeller.
Gala's Dutch international Sneijder takes a yellow card caution.
20' Still Scoreless in Dortmund
Dortmund having best chances but Malaga still hanging with the German club. Who breaks through first?
Lewandowski, who has scored in 10 straight league games, takes a pass and see Caballero off his line. A delicate chip is just high and over the bar.
8' GOAL Real Madrid 1-0
Real Madrid sticks a dagger in Galatasaray. Dominating the ball after an Ozil corner, Ozil leas Khedira to the right of the goal. He turns it to the middle where Ronaldo lurks and side foots it past Muslera
Dortmund's slick one-touch passing, but Lewandowski, in the middle of the Malaga area, is whistled for offside.
The visitors having more of the ball in the early going .
In Gernany, Dortmund in black and yellow striped jerseys; Malaga in blue and white stripes. Incessant chanting at Dortmund's home stadium.
Pregame Even in Dortmund … Big Deficiin Istanbul
Malaga repellled Dortmund's relentless attack last week coming away with a 0-0 draw and an away goal in Dortmund would be huge … or massive as they like to say on the continent. … It's a different story in Turkey where Real Madrid holds a big advantage.
