Re "An N.F.L. Team at the Rose Bowl? Not if Some Neighbors Have Their Way," Dec. 6: Los Angeles has Hollywood celebrities, beautiful weather and storied sports franchises in all three major professional team sports. The Dodgers, the Lakers and — wait, that's right, I was wrong, there is no football team.
Los Angeles has been clamoring for a football team ever since the Rams left after the 1994 season. I cannot think of a more deserving city for a football team. Even Jacksonville, Fla., which can hardly fill half the stadium, has an N.F.L. franchise.
People who complain about harboring an N.F.L. team for a couple of years at the Rose Bowl while a permanent home is built should pipe down. Sacrifice a few years in order to return to glory. People in the surrounding area say it would attract too much traffic. The Rose Bowl has been in Pasadena since 1922; maybe they shouldn't have moved there.

Re "N.H.L. Drops 16 More Days Of Games," Dec. 11: What if there was a lockout in hockey and nearly no one cared?
I guess we know the answer to that one. Life goes on without a glitch as if the N.H.L. never existed.

Re "No Fehr? No Deal, Say the N.H.L. Players," Dec. 8: The N.H.L. talks are at an impasse primarily because of differences on revenue sharing between the players and the owners. If there was a fair way to share revenue between profitable and unprofitable teams, this issue would be less important.
I would like to propose a novel revenue sharing plan. Let's say, for argument's sake, that the Ottawa Senators are an unprofitable team and the Toronto Maple Leafs are a profitable team. During any season, the Senators have several home games with the Maple Leafs. Ottawa can play one or more of its home games in Toronto.
All profits from such games go to Ottawa. Ottawa has the last line change as if on home ice. The Maple Leafs do not give up any revenue, and they benefit by having more games in front of their fans. It could be a win-win for both teams.

What Money Can't Buy
To the Sports Editor:
Re "Greinke Is Said to Reach Deal With Dodgers," Dec. 9: As a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan, I take great pleasure in the notion that the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to spend money "Yankee style" in their futile efforts to bring a World Series championship to Chavez Ravine. (They have not won one since 1988.)
When asked recently about the storied rivalry with the Giants, the Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw said, "They keep winning World Series, and we can't even make the playoffs."
You can't buy team chemistry.
