The Fifth Down: Revival for Giants' Pass Rush

Written By Unknown on Senin, 15 Oktober 2012 | 15.03

A capsule look at the Giants' 26-3 victory over the 49ers:

KEY PLAYER With last year's No. 3 receiver, Mario Manningham, now playing for the 49ers, Domenik Hixon showed again that he is an integral part of the Giants' receiving group. Hixon caught four passes for 78 yards, and one — a diving catch where he managed to keep his hands under the ball all the way to the ground — may have been the best of the game.

NUMBER OF THE WEEK: 0 That's how many games the Giants have lost when Ahmad Bradshaw rushes for 100 yards (they are now 10-0), and his 116 yards Sunday was only the second time in 43 games that the vaunted San Francisco defense allowed an opponent over the 100-yard mark.

TALKING POINT With the Giants facing important divisional games against Washington and Dallas the next two weeks, is the pass rush finally back to the dominant presence it has been for much of the past few seasons?

This post has been revised to reflect the following correction:

Correction: October 15, 2012

An earlier version of this post incorrectly referred to a distinction by Ahmad Bradshaw. He is not the first running back to go over 100 yards against the Niners' defense in 43 games. Marshawn Lynch also achieved the feat, in December of last season.
