Six college football players have been added as plaintiffs to a high-profile lawsuit that says the N.C.A.A. owes billions of dollars to former players for allowing their likenesses to be used without compensation.
The players are Vanderbilt linebacker Chase Garnham; Clemson cornerback Darius Robinson; linebacker Jake Fischer and kicker Jake Smith from Arizona; and tight end Moses Alipate and wide receiver Victor Keise of Minnesota. Ed O'Bannon, a former U.C.L.A. basketball star, is the lead plaintiff in a case that could alter how the N.C.A.A. operates.
■ Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent, who is preparing to defend himself against a charge in the Dec. 8 drunken-driving crash that killed a teammate, has retired. Brent, charged with intoxication manslaughter, faces up to 20 years in prison.
■ Indianapolis Colts tight end Weslye Saunders was suspended for eight games without pay after violating the N.F.L.'s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
