The Times's soccer blog has the world's game covered from all angles.
The Premier League leader, Manchester United, dropped points in the title race with a 1-1 draw at Swansea on Sunday, while Chelsea routed Aston Villa, 8-0. United's run of five league wins was halted in South Wales when Michu canceled out Patrice Evra's opener for the visitors.
United is 4 points ahead of Manchester City, and Chelsea returned to third place as seven players scored against Villa. After Fernando Torres's header in the third minute, David Luiz, Branislav Ivanovic, Frank Lampard, Ramires (twice), Oscar and Eden Hazard also scored.
The victory matched Chelsea's record rout of Wigan in May 2010 and maintained the team's revival since Rafa BenÃtez took charge last month. But Chelsea is 7 points behind City and 11 behind United.
